Known for its beautiful scenery and precipitation, the Highlands offer many rivers to challenge your experience and skill level.

Explore Highland know the local rivers and offer a wide choice of fun filled guided paddling adventures on simple moving water and white water.

Beginner groups (Grade 1)

River Beauly, River Ness

Improver groups (Grade 2)

River Conon, River Spey, River Oich, Lower Findhorn, Upper Moriston

Explore Highland offer you a choice of craft (depending on availability) and happy for bespoke full day groups to be guided in a variety of craft.

  • Open canadian canoes
  • Sit on top solo & tandem kayaks
  • Cross-over/touring kayaks
  • Stand up paddle boards

Minimum group size of three applies or ask for a bespoke guide rate. Discounts offered for under eighteen(18) year olds. Alternate locations will be chosen on the day should the open water weather conditions be unsuitable.

White Water Canoe & Kayak Guiding

For those who have appropriate skills/experience, we offer bespoke coaching/guiding on grade 3 or above rivers. For these rivers we strongly suggest the paddlers use their own suitable craft which they are familiar with. We can supply traditional open canoes for coaching up to and including grade three(3) rivers. We can also supply Pyranha Fusion Connect 30 outfitted cross-over kayaks for coaching on grade three and above rivers.

Advanced groups (Grade 4+)

Meig Gorge, Findhorn Gorge, Blackwater, Feshie Gorge, Spean Gorge, Roy Gorge, Moriston, Etive

On grade three(3) or above, the client takes full responsible for any loss or damage to Explore Highland equipment (on the same basis as our hire agreement requiring hire paperwork). Explore Highland sit on top kayaks and stand up paddle boards are not suitable for rivers above grade two(2).
