Paddle Loch Ness

explore-highland-sot-kayak-loch-ness2-1200x350

Throughout Summer we offer you the opportunity to join one of our evening paddles onto Loch Ness.

Meeting at our base, ensuring we have suitably sized personal buoyancy aids for everyone, we drive the group the short distance to Dochgarroch Locks. Here we unload the kayaks, and after a short safety briefing, we launch onto the Caledonian Canal and warm up the arms. We then paddle across Loch Dochfour exploring on route heading towards Loch Ness. Once at Lochend, Loch Ness we offer the group an opportunity to land on Lochend beach, stretch their legs and have a snack break. Here you can sit back and enjoy the stunning view looking.

Should the wind be unsuitable to paddle on the lochs, on the day we may have to make the decision to default to paddling from Dochgarroch Locks back to Inverness on the Caledonian Canal (wind assisted).

This trip is suitable for families including children from eight years old.

We supply:

  • transport shuttle from our Inverness office to Dochgarroch Locks, and back
  • a tandem sit on top kayak with deluxe seat pads
  • a personal buoyancy aid (PFD)
  • a suitable touring kayak paddle
  • a 60 litre dry bag per kayak for spare clothes and snack
  • a safe four hour guided paddling adventure

Group Size: Min 2 Adults, Max 8

Meeting Time: 5.45pm for 6.00pm

Meet Location: Explore Highland Office

Finish Time: Approx 10.00pm

What you should bring:

What clothing to wear greatly depends on the weather. When paddling these kayaks you should expect to be splashed a little from boat spray and drips from the paddle. Please bring suitable clothing to keep you warm. ( Jeans and cottons jumpers absorb water  and don’t dry out so NOT suitable for paddling in the Scottish Highlands)

We recommend bringing;

  • a waterproof jacket and trousers
  • fleece jumper base layer
  • a hat or cap to keep head warm if a light breeze
  • old footwear/trainers that you don’t mind getting wet
  • complete change of clothes for afterwards (or incase you take an accidental swim)
  • a snack and a drink to enjoy on Loch Ness
We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.
