Meeting at Aigas, we issue a suitably sized personal buoyancy aid and paddle to everyone. After a short safety briefing & a few paddling pointers, we launch onto the Aigas Reservoir and head off on a mini-adventure. Paddling across the reservoir and a stunning gorge, you enter a different world. One of calm, tranquil beauty. Osprey, owls, deer, salmon and other wildlife may be spotted during this adventure.
- tandem canoe
- portage trolley to help move canoe to the water
- personal buoyancy aid (PFD) and a suitable sized canoe paddle
- small dry bag per person for additional food and drinks
- approx three hours on the water guided/coached adventure
- tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits/cake for a tea break
- copies of all photos taken by your guide during the trip
What you need to bring:
When paddling, you should expect to be prepared for the outdoors and the Highland weather. The weather can be unpredictable so its best to be prepared for the worst so you enjoy it. Please bring suitable outdoor clothing to keep you warm for your time out on the water. We recommend bring along;
- a waterproof jacket and waterproof over trousers (essential)
- leggings/baselayer/fleece jumper
- a hat/ cap to keep your head warm
- old light footwear/trainers that you don't mind getting wet/splashed
We recommend also bringing along;
- water or juice as you may get thirsty
- any medication you may require
- towel & complete change of clothes for afterward - can be taken or left in your car!
Jeans and hiking boats are NOT suitable for watersports and canoeing.
Group Size: Min 4, Max 8 (Bookings close 48 hours before activity date. Should there not be sufficient numbers, you will be notified and issued a full refund)
Age: This trip is suitable for adults or families (minimum 8-year-old). 8-11 year olds require to be accompanied on a one to one basis. 12-17 year olds require to be accompanied on one adult to two teenager basis. Should you require to book for multiple spaces, please check spaces available when registering "Add More Attendee's? Click to toggle, limit X)" lets you see remaining spaces. Adults and U18's need to be booked/paid separately.

Aigas is 15 miles from Inverness/4 miles from Beauly on the A831 back road to Cannich. There is limited to no mobile signal in the area so please download meeting instructions prior to departing.
If in Inverness with no transport, you are welcome to jump into the minibus EH base for a lift out to Aigas. Please ensure you are at EH store/workshop 45 minutes before activity meet time. Happy to offer a lift back to Inverness at end of the adventure. If you wish to meet and get a lift out to Aigas, please email Donald on firstname.lastname@example.org 48 hours prior to trip. Otherwise I'll assume you are meeting at Aigas.
Parking: Aigas Dam layby is just 200m past the lower access to Aigas Dam on the A831 Beauly to Cannich road. It is only a short 200m along the road to the main gate entrance where the minibus and trailer can park. Please be careful walking along the side of this 60mph country road. Especially if there are children in the group.
Finish Time: 2.00pm (approx 2.45pm back in EH Store/Workshop, Inverness)
Weather: This trip takes place in a very sheltered location and runs 90% of the time.
Personal Belongings: Camera's, phones, car keys and other personal belongings are taken out onto the water at your own risk. If in doubt, please leave these back on land!
