Explore West Coast (5 days)

Explore the rugged West Coast of Scotland by sea kayak. This five day paddling adventure will take you to new sites to see the scenic coastline, vast array of wildlife with spectacular camp spots. Due to the local knowledge of Explore Highland, your West Coast trip could be based anywhere from Ardnurmurchan to Cape Wrath but will be planned with the group in mind on arrival and forecast wind report for week.

EH supplies: 

• tea/coffee at meeting and return to office
• transport to launch site and returning to Inverness Office
• commercial campsite fees (if required)
• suitable sea kayak, paddle, spray deck & buoyancy aid (if required)
• tent, roll mat, torch, cooking equipment & toilet bag (if required)
• five days sea kayak guiding/coaching
• find out all the local history and wildlife
• copies of all photos taken by your guide during the adventure

What you need to bring:

We recommend bring along;

• your own warm paddling clothing
• waterproof trousers & jacket
• suitable footwear for paddling and camp
• hat, cap & gloves
• spare clothing & sleeping bag
• personal toiletries, midgy spray & sun tan lotion
• personal food

Group Size: Min 3/Max 6 (Bookings close a month before activity date. Should there not be sufficient numbers, you will be notified and issued a full refund)

Age: Suitable for adults only

Duration: five days paddling/ four nights wild camping

Experience:  This trip is suitable for improver paddler or above. This area is still open water and exposed to tide, waves, swell and wind so experience of these conditions is preferred

Food: Due to the wide variety of dietary restrictions (food allergies, religious restrictions, vegetarian, gluten free etc), Explore Highland made the decision in 2017 to provide all paddlers with information required to support their food planning and equipment to cook it over trying to cater for multiple requirements whilst wild camping.  This means everyone in the group’s dietary requirements are catered for which makes for happy paddlers. Stove, windshield, gas, lighter, pan set, kettle, plate, bowl, mug and cutlery plus cooking utensils can all be provided if required FREE OF CHARGE. Food planners for trips are also available

Contingency: Should the weather in the area planned to paddle be totally unsuitable, Explore Highland will discuss at time of meeting with group and amend plan to be more suitable. Should it be unwise to paddle in planned area, Explore Highland is able to replan and take group to a similarly spectacular paddling location to ensure you get the most from your paddling adventure with us.

Payment: Booking online requires full payment at time of purchase. If you wish to spread your payments, you can email to be invoiced. Invoice ask for 25% deposit, with outstanding balance paid 28 days in advance of booking date. BACS payment are free of charge. Surcharges apply for debit/credit card and paypal.
