3* Open Canoe Training/Assessment

Develop your discipline specific open canoe skills including solo & tandem paddling, paddling in wind, variety of canoe sailing, canoe poling, variety of canoe paddling strokes and paddling on simple flows. More importantly improve your canoe specific safety and rescue skills. Course suitable for those who have completed their two star (or suitably experienced) with a variety of canoeing day trips under your belt.

We supply: 

  • 2 days of coaching
  • variety paddles, sails and canoes to try
  • tea/coffee at course briefing and at debrief
  • copies of photos taken by your guide during the trip
  • Wetsuit & other canoeing accessories if required

What you need to bring:

At this level of course, you should know what equipment you require to canoe for a day out. Here are a few reminders.

We recommend bring along;

  • Canoeing equipment
  • Personal paddling equipment and change of clothes
  • Towel and complete change of clothes for afterwards, safety and rescue is part of this course
  • All safety & personal equipment as per 3* open canoe training syllabus

Course fee covers Training only. Should you meet the required criteria and pass all the assessment elements, the SCA 3* Certificate fee will be charged as current per member/non-member rates.

Group Size: Min 3/Max 6 (Bookings closed a week before activity date. Should there not be sufficient numbers, you will be notified and issued a full refund)

Age: Suitable for adults only (18 years old or over)

Meeting Time: 8.45am for 9.00am

Meet Location: Explore Highland Office, Clachnaharry Works Lock, Inverness, IV3 8RA. Free parking and toilet available onsite
