Introduction to Sea Kayaking (1 day)

This introduction to sea kayaking is a great way to get on the water and explore. Over a day you will learn the basic paddling strokes, how to manuover the kayak and seesm local coastline and hopefully lots of wildlife. You will be guided and coached throughout to ensure your day is full of learning and fun.

We supply: 

  • tea/coffee at course briefing and at debrief
  • full day of sea kayak coaching
  • suitable sea kayak, spray deck, buoyancy aid and variety of paddles to try out
  • transport to/from local paddling locations
  • dry bag for kit and lunch
  • copies of photos taken by your guide during the trip

What you need to bring:

We recommend bring along;

  • a waterproof jacket and trousers
  • suitable outdoor clothing and a fleece jumper
  • a hat or cap to keep warm/sun out of your eyes
  • old footwear/trainers that you don’t mind getting wet/splashed
  • some water/juice and lunch
  • towel and complete change of clothes for afterwards (or in case you take an accidental swim)

Group Size: Min 3/Max 6 (Bookings closes a week before activity date. Should there not be sufficient numbers, you will be notified and issued a full refund)

Age: Suitable for adults only (18 years old or over)

Meeting Time: 9.15am for 9.30am

Meet Location: Explore Highland Office, Clachnaharry Works Lock, Inverness, IV3 8RA. Free parking and toilet available onsite

Finish Time: Approx. 5.00 pm

Distance: Approx. 3-4 miles

Weather: Paddling location will depend on the weather. Various local locations may be used including Caledonian Canal, Beauly Firth, Moray Firth,Cromarty Firth, Loch Ness and Loch Achilty
