Introduction to Sea Kayaking Course

  •  25/08/2018
     9:00 am - 5:00 pm

This introductory to sea kayak day is a great place to start getting to know more about this fantastic recreation.

The day consists of some theory but mainly practical experience. In the morning we introduce you to the different type of sea kayaks and kit required. Then moving onto the canal, you get to try out these boats as well as cover various safety drills in case of a capsize.

In the afternoon we relocate to a sea location (Beauly/Moray Firth) to explore some local coastline. Fingers crossed we see some local wildlife and great scenery from the water too.

We supply:

  • a suitable solo sea kayak
  • a personal buoyancy aid (PFD) and a sea kayak paddle & spray deck
  • a 10-litre dry bag per person for any essentials needing to be taken out on the water
  • approx eight hours on/off the water coaching

What you need to bring: When paddling, you should expect to be prepared for the outdoors and the Highland weather. The weather can be unpredictable so its best to be prepared for the worst so you enjoy. If you have your own paddling kit (wetsuit & wetsuit shoes/old trainers, please feel free to take those with you).

We recommend bring along;

  • a dry set of clothes
  • swimwear for under wetsuit
  • a towel
  • a cap, hat and/or shades
  • Packed lunch, water or juice for when paddling
  • any medication you may require
