Explore Highland is guiding this fabulous Isle of Skye sea kayaking adventure which will meet in Kyleakin, and plan a fabulous four days out on the water sea kayaking making best use of the location dependant on the wind & weather conditions over the period.

This adventure will be over four days, with three nights of wild camping in a remote area or on an island off Skye.

EH supplies: 

  • tandem sea kayaks, paddle, spray deck, buoyancy aid & dry bags
  • tent, roll mat, all cooking & camping equipment, & toilet bag (if required)
  • water carrier
  • four days sea kayak guiding
  • all the photos taken during the adventure
What you’ll need to bring;
  • your own warm paddling clothing
  • good waterproof trouser & jacket
  • suitable footwear for paddling (wet shoes) and for camp (dryshoes)
  • hat, cap & gloves
  • spare clothing & compact sleeping bag
  • torch or headtorch
  • personal toiletries, medication, midgy spray & suntan lotion
  • buff/facemask for visiting local shops etc
  • individual snacks and treats for between meals
  • food (4x lunches, 3x breakfasts, 3x dinners, a water bottle, a flask/cup
  • additional spending money – For any souvenirs, additional tea/coffee/treats on the route

Personal Belongings: Camera’s, phones, car keys, and other personal belongings are taken out onto the water at your own risk. If in doubt, please leave these items in your own car or office when out on the water

Craft: Tandem sea kayaks. I have had a fair few enquiries of solo sea kayakers who have all their own sea kayak & kit look to join this guided sea kayaking trips. There will be two spaces available on this adventure.

Age: This trip is suitable for adults or accompanied 14-18 year olds on a 1-2-1 basis.

Paddling Experience Req: Some prior paddling experience is required but as guiding is offered and distance/environment is light, this trip is open to improvers to advanced paddlers alike.

Physical Fitness: Paddlers should be physically fit enough to paddle lightly for the duration and able to move and handle the kayaks in pairs.

Parking: There is free parking in the village car park where meeting.

Facilities: There are public toilets at Dornie & Kyle on route to meet point and a Coop shop in Kyle, just before you drive over the Skye Bridge.

Finish Time: Approx 4.00 – 6.00 pm on Day 4

COVID-19 Activity Advice: A number of precautions are being put in place to ensure safety for all attending.

    • All participants are attending on the basis they are NOT suffering from any COVID-19 symptoms, have NOT knowingly been in contact with anyone suffering from COVID-19 symptoms within the last 14 days, and are fit, healthy, and happy to participate.
    • Should any booked participant discover they have developed any COVID-19 symptoms, participants are asked to contact Explore Highland by email at the earliest opportunity.
    • We ask all participants to respect social distancing to assist in everyone’s safety.
    • Social distancing will be maintained throughout the adventure whether on land or when out on the water.
    • Alcohol-based hand sanitisers will be available for regular application at the start, tea break, and at the end of the paddling day.
    • Pre & post-cleaning of all boards and kit will be completed to ensure all paddler’s safety.
    • Additional safety briefing to explain options for self-rescue and ensuring ways to ensure no sharing of equipment.
    • Group photos will be taken using social distancing and “group hug photos” encouraged only for the same household paddlers.
    • A lateral flow test will be requested to be undertaken 24 hrs prior to this adventure to ensure all participants test negative for Covid-19
    • Should the Scottish/UK government change travel restrictions after deposits/balance has been paid, Explore Highland will honour your booking and offer an alternative date/event to attend once restrictions have been lifted.
    • Should there be any more best practice advice be issued, we will ensure to add to this list to further promote safe paddling for all.


Price: £440 per adult. £360 per accompanied under 18. £320 per Solo Sea kayak with own kit

Payment: You can book your place online by completing the booking process below. To reserve your place you only require to pay the 25% deposit now, with the balance invoice forwarded for payment six weeks prior to adventure start date.
